The Morning Supplication
A Traditional Kashmiri Recitation
Arabic and Persian Text | Transliteration | Modern English Translation
Transliteration follows a readable academic system. Long vowels are shown as ā, ī, and ū; ʿ marks ʿayn and ʾ marks hamzah. Vocalized Arabic endings are retained where they appear in the source text.
The Persian stanza is transliterated according to Persian pronunciation; its embedded Arabic blessing formulas retain their Arabic forms.
The praise poem is transmitted in differing forms. This edition follows the supplied Kashmiri recension, including several late or non-standard readings; punctuation, orthography, and clearly secure diacritics are regularized. The English conveys the evident devotional sense.

Astaghfiru Allāha taʿālā rabbī min kulli dhanbin, wa-atūbu ilayhi, wa-asʾaluhu al-tawbata. [thalātha marrātin]

Wa-bi-ḥaḍrati al-Ṣiddīqi, wa-bi-l-Fārūqi, wa-bi-Dhī al-Nūrayni, wa-bi-l-Murtaḍā, wa-bi-l-Mujtabā, wa-bi-l-Shabbīri, aʾimmatan.
We also acknowledge the revered al-Ṣiddīq, al-Fārūq, Dhū al-Nūrayn, al-Murtaḍā, al-Mujtabā, and al-Shabbīr as our leaders.

Abyāt Fārisiyyah wa-ʿArabiyyah fī al-Ṣalāh wa-l-Salām
Hazār-hā durūd o hazār-hā salām
May thousands of blessings and thousands of greetings of peace
bar rūḥ-e Muḥammad—ʿalayhi al-salāmu—
upon the spirit of Muhammad—peace be upon him—
buvad wird-e jān o dilam, ṣubḥ o shām:
be the litany of my soul and heart, morning and evening:
ʿAlayka al-ṣalātu, ʿalayka al-salāmu.
Blessings be upon you; peace be upon you.
Qaṣīdat al-Shawq wa-l-Madīḥ
Poem of Longing and Praise
In nilti yā rīḥa al-ṣabā yawman ilā arḍi al-ḥarami.
If one day you reach the Sacred Land, O morning breeze,
Balligh salāmī rawḍatan fīhā al-nabiyyu al-muḥtaramu.
carry my greeting to the Garden where the honored Prophet rests.
Min wajhihi shamsu al-ḍuḥā, min khaddihi badru al-dujā.
From his face shines the morning sun; from his cheek, the full moon in the night.
Min dhātihi nūru al-hudā, min kaffihi baḥru al-khiḍammi.
From his very being shines the light of guidance; from his palm flows an ocean of boundless generosity.
Qurʾānuhu burhānunā, naskhan li-adyānin maḍat.
The Qurʾan revealed to him is our proof, superseding the earlier religious dispensations.
Idh jāʾanā aḥkāmuhu, kullu al-ṣuḥufi ṣārat ʿadaman.
When its rulings came to us, all earlier scriptures ceased to govern.
Akbādunā majrūḥatun min sayfi hajri al-Muṣṭafā.
Our innermost hearts are wounded by the sword of separation from the Chosen One.
Ṭūbā li-ahli baldatin fīhā al-nabiyyu al-muḥtashimu.
Blessed are the people of a city where the venerable Prophet rests.
Yā laytanī kuntu ka-man yattabiʿu nabiyyan ʿāliman.
If only I could be like one who follows the learned Prophet,
Yawman wa-laylan dāʾiman, wa-rzuq kadhālika bi-l-karami.
day and night, without cease; and, in your generosity, grant me such constancy.
Yā Muṣṭafā, yā Mujtabā, irḥam ʿalā ʿiṣyāninā.
O Chosen One, O Elect One, have mercy on us despite our disobedience.
Majbūratun aʿmālunā, ṭamaʿan wa-dhanban wa-ẓulman.
Our deeds stand in need of mending, stained by greed, sin, and wrongdoing.
Yā raḥmatan li-l-ʿālamīna, anta shafīʿu al-mudhnibīna.
O mercy to all the worlds, you are the intercessor for sinners.
Akrim lanā yawma al-ḥazīni, faḍlan wa-jūdan wa-l-karama.
On that grievous Day, bestow upon us your grace, bounty, and generosity.
Wa-ṣallā Allāhu taʿālā ʿalayhi wa-ʿalā ālihi wa-aṣḥābihi wa-sallama.
May Allah Most High bless him, his family, and his Companions, and grant them peace.

al-Duʿāʾ bi-l-ʿAfw wa-l-ʿĀfiyah
Prayer for Pardon and Well-Being
Allāhumma innā nasʾaluka al-ʿafwa wa-l-ʿāfiyata.
O Allah, we ask You for pardon and well-being,
Wa-l-muʿāfāta al-dāʾimata fī al-dīni wa-l-dunyā wa-l-ākhirati.
and for lasting freedom from affliction in our religion, in this world, and in the Hereafter.
Yā Ḥayyu, yā Qayyūmu; yā Ḥayyu, yā Qayyūmu; yā Ḥayyu, yā Qayyūmu.
O Ever-Living One, O Self-Subsisting Sustainer of all; O Ever-Living One, O Self-Subsisting Sustainer of all; O Ever-Living One, O Self-Subsisting Sustainer of all.
Yā Dhā al-Jalāli wa-l-Ikrāmi.
O Possessor of Majesty and Honor.
Yā Badīʿa al-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi.
O Originator of the heavens and the earth.
Wa-yā Ghiyātha al-mustaghīthīna, aghithnā.
O Source of aid for all who cry for help, come to our aid.
Nasʾaluka bi-nūri wajhika al-karīmi an tuḥyiya qulūbanā wa-ajsāmanā wa-ajsādanā, wa-arwāḥanā wa-abṣāranā, bi-nūri maʿrifatika wa-maḥabbatika abadan.
We ask You, by the light of Your noble Face, to enliven our hearts, our bodies and physical frames, our spirits, and our vision forever with the light of knowing and loving You.
Yā Allāhu, ighfir dhunūbanā, yā Ghaffāra al-dhunūbi.
O Allah, forgive our sins, O Great Forgiver of sins.
Yā Allāhu, ustur ʿuyūbanā, yā Sattāra al-ʿuyūbi.
O Allah, conceal our faults, O Concealer of faults.
Yā Allāhu, fa-zid rizqanā rizqan ḥalālan ṭayyiban, yā Razzāqu, yā ʿAlīmu.
O Allah, increase our provision and grant us lawful, wholesome sustenance, O Provider, O All-Knowing One.
Yā Allāhu, irḥam ḥālanā, wa-rḥam ʿiyālanā, yā Raḥmānu, yā Raḥīmu.
O Allah, have mercy on our condition and on our families, O Most Compassionate, O Most Merciful.

the well-being of bodies and their healing,

wa-ʿalā ālihi wa-ṣaḥbihi wa-sallim.
and bless his family and Companions, and grant them peace.
