- wa-sāʿatu al-jumuʿati ʾarjā dhālika, wa-waqtuhā:

- The hour on Friday is the most hopeful of these times. It has been said to be:

- From the commencement of the prayer until its concluding salutation [

- wa-l-dāʿī qāʾimun yuṣallī [خ، م، س، ق].

- While the supplicant is standing in prayer [

- wa-qīla: baʿda al-ʿaṣri ʾilā ghurūbi al-shamsi [مو، ت].

- It is said to be after the afternoon prayer until sunset [

- wa-qīla: ʾākhiru sāʿatin min yawmi al-jumuʿati [مو، ط، د، ت، س، مس].

- It is said to be the final hour of Friday [

- wa-qīla: baʿda ṭulūʿi al-fajri qabla ṭulūʿi al-shamsi.

- It is said to be after daybreak but before sunrise.

- wa-qīla: baʿda ṭulūʿi al-shamsi.

- It is said to be after sunrise.

- wa-dhahaba ʾabū dharrin al-ghifāriyyu raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu ʾilā ʾannahā baʿda zayghi al-shamsi biyasīrin ʾilā dhirāʿin.

- Abu Dharr al-Ghifari, may Allah be pleased with him, held that it begins shortly after the sun passes its zenith and lasts until it has declined by a forearm's length.

- qultu: wa-alladhī ʾaʿtaqiduhu ʾannahā waqtu qirāʾati al-ʾimāmi al-fātiḥata fī ṣalāti al-jumuʿati ʾilā ʾan yaqūla: (ʾāmīna), jamʿan bayna al-ʾaḥādīthi allatī ṣaḥḥat ʿani al-nabiyyi ṣallā Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam kamā bayyantuhu fī ghayri hādhā al-mawḍiʿi.

- I say: What I believe is that it is the period during which the imam recites al-Fatihah in the Friday prayer, until he says "Amen." This reconciles the hadiths authentically reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), as I have explained elsewhere.

- wa-qāla al-nawawiyyu raḥimahu Allāhu: wa-l-ṣaḥīḥu, bali al-ṣawābu alladhī lā yajūzu ghayruhu mā thabata fī ṣaḥīḥi muslimin min ḥadīthi ʾabī mūsā al-ʾashʿariyyi raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu.

- Al-Nawawi, may Allah have mercy on him, said: The correct view—indeed, the only sound view that may properly be held—is what is established in Sahih Muslim in the hadith of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, may Allah be pleased with him.

(1) al-ḥayʿalatayni: ʾay baʿda qawli al-muʾadhdhini: ḥayya ʿalā al-ṣalāti, ḥayya ʿalā al-falāḥi.

(1) The two hay'alahs are the caller's words, "Come to prayer; come to success."

- wa-ʿinda nuzūli al-ghaythi [ط، مر].

rawāhu al-shāfiʿiyyu fī «al-ʾummi» mursalan(1), wa-qāla: wa-qad ḥafiẓtu min ghayri wāḥidin ṭalaba al-ʾijābati ʿindahumā.

Al-Shafi'i narrated it in al-Umm as a mursal report(1), and said, "I learned from more than one person that they sought an answered prayer at both of those times."

- qultu: wa-ʿinda ruʾyati al-kaʿbati [ط].

- I say: when seeing the Ka'bah [ط].

- wa-bayna al-jalālatayni fī «al-ʾanʿāmi»(2), ḥafiẓnā dhālika mujarraban min ghayri wāḥidin min ʾahli al-ʿilmi, wa-naṣṣa ʿalayhi al-ḥāfiẓu ʿabdu al-razzāqi al-rasʿaniyyu fī «tafsīrihi» ʿani al-shaykhi al-ʿimādi al-maqdisiyyi.

- Between the two occurrences of the Divine Name in Surat al-An'am(2). We learned from the experience of more than one scholar that supplication is answered there. The hadith master 'Abd al-Razzaq al-Ras'ani stated this explicitly in his Tafsir, reporting it from Shaykh al-'Imad al-Maqdisi.

(1) al-mursalu: huwa mā rafaʿahu al-tābiʿiyyu, bi-ʾan yaqūla: qāla rasūlu Allāhi ṣallā Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam, sawāʾun kāna al-tābiʿiyyu kabīran ʾaw ṣaghīran fa-huwa yarwīhi ʿani al-nabiyyi ṣallā Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam wa-lam yadhkuri al-wāsiṭata.

(1) A mursal report is one that a Successor attributes directly to the Prophet by saying, "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said." Whether the Successor is senior or junior, he narrates it from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) without naming the intermediary.

(2) ʾay ʿinda al-waqfi al-lāzimi bayna lafẓayi al-jalālati [Allāhi Allāhi] mina al-ʾāyati (124) min sūrati al-ʾanʿāmi.

(2) That is, at the required pause between the two utterances of the Divine Name [اللَّهِ اللَّهِ] in verse 124 of Surat al-An'am.
