Manzil
Manzil (منزل) is a collection of Qur’anic passages commonly recited in South Asia as ruqyah: a prayerful recitation seeking Allah’s protection and healing. People often read it in one sitting, in the morning or evening. The familiar printed selection brings together 18 passages from 14 sūrahs—79 individually numbered verses, although it is traditionally called “the thirty-three verses.” Its arrangement grew from a South Asian family practice rather than from a single revealed chapter: in a preface dated 1399 AH (1979 CE), Muḥammad Ṭalḥa Kandhlawī described how his family recited and taught these passages, then printed them together for convenience. He also identified related selections, with some differences, in earlier works by Shāh Walī Allāh al-Dihlawī and Ashraf ʿAlī Thānawī. The verses are Qur’anic; this particular order and reading schedule are later devotional choices.
This reading edition follows the South Asian Manzil selection in the uploaded booklet: 18 passages from 14 surahs, comprising 79 numbered āyāt. Each verse is presented in Arabic, then Latin transliteration, then a newly written English translation. Long lines wrap within their verse block.
The Arabic uses the Ḥafṣ reading and the common Kūfan verse numbering: the opening bismillāh is 1:1 in al Fātiḥah. The opening formula before seven other surahs is shown as its own three line block and is not counted as a verse of those surahs.
Transliteration key: ā, ī, ū are long vowels; ʿ is ʿayn and ʾ is hamza. The forms ḥ, ṣ, ḍ, ṭ, ẓ and the digraphs kh, gh, sh, th, dh distinguish Arabic consonants. The written al- article is retained even before sun letters. Word endings represent the vocalized text; connected recitation and a pause can sound different.

Allah—there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living, the One who sustains all. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. Everything in the heavens and on the earth belongs to Him. Who can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what lies before them and what lies behind them, while they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursī encompasses the heavens and the earth, and preserving them does not weary Him. He is the Most High, the Magnificent.

There is no compulsion in religion: the right way has become distinct from error. Whoever rejects false objects of worship and believes in Allah has taken hold of the firmest handhold, which will never break. Allah hears all and knows all.

Allah is the protecting friend of those who believe. He brings them out of darkness into light. As for those who reject faith, their protecting friends are false powers that lead them out of light into darkness. They are the people of the Fire, where they will remain.
Al Baqarah 2:284–286

Everything in the heavens and on the earth belongs to Allah. Whether you disclose what is within yourselves or conceal it, Allah will call you to account for it. He then forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. Allah has power over all things.

The Messenger believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, as do the believers. All believe in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers. ‘We make no distinction among any of His messengers,’ they say. ‘We hear and obey. We ask Your forgiveness, our Lord; to You is the final return.’
Lā yukallifu Allāhu nafsan ʾillā wusʿahā; lahā mā kasabat wa-ʿalayhā mā iktasabat; rabbanā lā tuʾākhidhnā ʾin nasīnā ʾaw ʾakhṭaʾnā; rabbanā wa-lā taḥmil ʿalaynā ʾiṣran kamā ḥamaltahu ʿalā alladhīna min qablinā; rabbanā wa-lā tuḥammilnā mā lā ṭāqata lanā bihi; wa-uʿfu ʿannā wa-ighfir lanā wa-irḥamnā; ʾanta mawlānā fa-unṣurnā ʿalā al-qawmi al-kāfirīna.
Allah does not burden any soul beyond its capacity. It gains the benefit of what it has earned and bears the consequence of what it has done. ‘Our Lord, do not hold us to account if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord, do not lay on us a burden like the one You laid on those before us. Our Lord, do not make us bear what we cannot endure. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our Protector, so help us against those who reject faith.’

Allah bears witness that there is no god but Him; so do the angels and those endowed with knowledge. He upholds justice. There is no god but Him, the Almighty, the All-Wise.

Say, ‘O Allah, Master of all sovereignty, You grant sovereignty to whom You will and take it from whom You will. You honor whom You will and humble whom You will. All good rests in Your hand. You have power over all things.’

‘You bring night into day and day into night; You bring the living from the dead and the dead from the living; and You provide for whom You will without measure.’
Al Aʿrāf 7:54–56

Your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then established Himself over the Throne. He cloaks the day in night, which pursues it swiftly. The sun, moon, and stars are subject to His command. Surely creation and command belong to Him alone. Blessed is Allah, Lord of all worlds.
Udʿū rabbakum taḍarruʿan wa-khufyatan; ʾinnahu lā yuḥibbu al-muʿtadīna.
Call upon your Lord humbly and quietly. He does not love those who overstep the bounds.

Do not spread corruption on the earth after it has been set right. Call upon Him with fear and hope. Allah’s mercy is near to those who do good.
Al Isrāʾ 17:110–111

Say, ‘Call upon Allah, or call upon the Most Compassionate. Whichever name you use, the most beautiful names belong to Him.’ Do not raise your voice too much in prayer or lower it too much; seek a way between the two.

And say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah, who has taken no child, has no partner in His sovereignty, and needs no protector against weakness.’ Proclaim His greatness as it deserves to be proclaimed.
ʾA-fa-ḥasibtum ʾannamā khalaqnākum ʿabathan wa-ʾannakum ʾilaynā lā turjaʿūna?

Exalted is Allah, the true Sovereign! There is no god but Him, Lord of the noble Throne.

Whoever calls upon another god alongside Allah, with no proof for doing so, will answer to their Lord alone. Those who reject the truth will not prosper.
Wa-qul rabbi ighfir wa-irḥam wa-ʾanta khayru al-rāḥimīna.
And say, ‘My Lord, forgive and show mercy; You are the best of those who show mercy.’

ʾIllā man khaṭifa al-khaṭfata fa-ʾatbaʿahu shihābun thāqibun
except for one who snatches a fragment of what is heard; a piercing flame pursues him.
Fa-istaftihim ʾahum ʾashaddu khalqan ʾam man khalaqnā ʾinnā khalaqnāhum min ṭīnin lāzibin
Ask them: Are they harder to create than the others We have created? We made them from sticky clay.
Al Raḥmān 55:33–40
Yā maʿshara al-jinni wa-al-ʾinsi ʾini istaṭaʿtum ʾan tanfudhū min ʾaqṭāri al-samāwāti wa-al-arḍi fa-infudhū lā tanfudhūna ʾillā bi-sulṭānin
O company of jinn and humans, if you can pass beyond the bounds of the heavens and the earth, then pass beyond them. You will not pass except with authority.
Fa-bi-ʾayyi ʾālāʾi rabbikumā tukadhdhibāni
Which of your Lord’s gifts, then, will you both deny?
Yursalu ʿalaykumā shuwāẓun min nārin wa-nuḥāsun fa-lā tantaṣirāni
A blaze of fire and molten copper will be sent against you both, and you will not be able to defend yourselves.
Fa-bi-ʾayyi ʾālāʾi rabbikumā tukadhdhibāni
Which of your Lord’s gifts, then, will you both deny?
Fa-ʾidhā inshaqqati al-samāʾu fa-kānat wardatan ka-al-dihāni
When the sky splits open and turns rose-red like molten oil—
Fa-bi-ʾayyi ʾālāʾi rabbikumā tukadhdhibāni
which of your Lord’s gifts, then, will you both deny?
Fa-yawmaʾidhin lā yusʾalu ʿan dhanbihi ʾinsun wa-lā jānnun
On that Day, neither human nor jinn will be asked about their sin.
Fa-bi-ʾayyi ʾālāʾi rabbikumā tukadhdhibāni
Which of your Lord’s gifts, then, will you both deny?

Had We sent this Qur’an down upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and breaking apart in awe of Allah. We offer people such examples so that they may reflect.

He is Allah: there is no god but Him—the Sovereign, the Holy, the Source of Peace, the Giver of Security, the Guardian, the Mighty, the Compeller, the Supremely Great. Glory be to Allah above all they associate with Him.

Yahdī ʾilā al-rushdi fa-ʾāmannā bihi wa-lan nushrika bi-rabbinā ʾaḥadan
that guides to what is right, so we have believed in it. We will never associate anyone with our Lord.

Sources and editorial notes
Selection and order. The uploaded 16 page Manzil English booklet published by Noore Hidayat lists the passage ranges followed here. Its traditional description of “33 verses” conflicts with the 79 individually numbered āyāt in its own contents list.
Arabic text. The fully vocalized Unicode passages follow the AlQurani Manzil reading page, which credits the King Fahd Qurʾān Printing Complex QPC V4 data through the Quranic Universal Library. The Arabic was separated at canonical verse boundaries without changing its words, vowel signs, or pause marks, and all 79 verses were checked against Quran.com. The only difference found was a Unicode hamza encoding in 2:4, with the same reading. The verse numbers displayed here are editorial.
Translation. The English in this document was written anew from the Arabic. In the uploaded booklet, the English alongside 2:284–286 instead translates 2:264–266; it was not used here. The booklet also leaves the bismillāh outside its al Fātiḥah verse numbering, whereas this edition uses the common Kūfan numbering with bismillāh as 1:1.
For 55:35, nuḥās is rendered “molten copper”; classical explanation also permits “smoke.” This transliteration represents the vocalized written forms rather than a full tajwīd pronunciation guide.
