Tansīqun mujazzaʾun li-l-qirāʾati mina al-nuskhati al-naṣṣiyyati al-kāmilati. bayānātu al-ṭabʿati wamaṣādiru al-naṣṣi fī al-juzʾi 9.
A reading format divided into sections from the complete text version. Edition details and textual sources are in Document 9. [Source note.]
Reading the three lines
Each passage appears in fully vocalized Arabic, transliteration, and modern English. Short units continue each prayer in order; a unit boundary need not end a sentence. All seven weekday prayers are included from Sunday through Saturday.
ā ī ū mark long vowels; ʿ marks ʿayn and ʾ marks hamza within a word. Initial hamza is represented by its vowel. ḥ ṣ ḍ ṭ ẓ distinguish Arabic consonants; th dh kh sh gh represent single Arabic sounds. Doubled consonants are held longer.
The transliteration retains grammatical endings and the written article al. In connected recitation, initial helping vowels often disappear and al assimilates before sun letters. At a full pause, final short case vowels are normally dropped. A separating hyphen distinguishes adjacent consonants from a digraph.
God translates Allāh. “Muhammad and his family” renders Muḥammad wa-ālihi and Muḥammad wa-āli Muḥammad. The prayers retain the voice of the person praying. The Qurʾanic quotation included in the Tuesday prayer is reproduced as part of the supplied text.
Duʿāʾuhu ʿalayhi al-salāmu fī yawmi al-aḥadi
His prayer for Sunday, peace be upon him
Bismi Allāhi al-raḥmāni al-raḥīmi.
In the name of God, the All-Merciful, the Ever-Merciful.
Bismi Allāhi al-ladhī lā arjū illā faḍlahu, walā akhshā illā ʿadlahu, walā aʿtamidu illā qawlahu, walā umsiku illā biḥablihi.
In the name of God, whose favor alone I hope for, whose justice alone I fear, whose word alone I rely on, and whose rope alone I hold fast.
Bika astajīru yā dhā al-ʿafwi wa-al-riḍwāni mina al-ẓulmi wa-al-ʿudwāni, wamin ghiyari al-zamāni, watawāturi al-aḥzāni, waṭawāriqi al-ḥadathāni,
In You I seek refuge, O Possessor of pardon and good pleasure, from injustice and aggression, from the changes of time, the succession of sorrows, and the sudden blows of misfortune;
Wamini inqiḍāʾi al-muddati qabla al-taʾahhubi wa-al-ʿuddati.
and from the end of my allotted term before I have prepared and made myself ready.
Wa-iyyāka astarshidu limā fīhi al-ṣalāḥu wa-al-iṣlāḥu, wabika astaʿīnu fīmā yaqtarinu bihi al-najāḥu wa-al-injāḥu,
From You alone I seek guidance to what brings soundness and sets things right, and from You I seek help in what brings success and causes it to flourish.
Wa-iyyāka arghabu fī libāsi al-ʿāfiyati watamāmihā, washumūli al-salāmati wadawāmihā.
From You alone I desire to be clothed in well-being in all its fullness, and to enjoy safety in all its breadth and permanence.
Wa-aʿūdhu bika yā rabbi min hamazāti al-shayāṭīni, wa-aḥtarizu bisulṭānika min jawri al-salāṭīni.
My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of devils, and shelter in Your authority from the tyranny of rulers.
Fataqabbal mā kāna min ṣalātī waṣawmī, wa-ijʿal ghadī wamā baʿdahu afḍala min sāʿatī wayawmī,
Accept whatever prayer and fasting I have offered. Make tomorrow and all that follows better than this hour and this day.
Wa-aʿizzanī fī ʿashīratī waqawmī, wa-iḥfaẓnī fī yaqẓatī wanawmī, fa-anta Allāhu khayrun ḥāfiẓan, wa-anta arḥamu al-rāḥimīna.
Grant me honor among my kin and my people, and guard me while I am awake and asleep. You are God, the best guardian, and You are the most merciful of the merciful.
Allāhumma innī abraʾu ilayka fī yawmī hādhā wamā baʿdahu mina al-āḥādi mina al-shirki wa-al-ilḥādi,
O God, before You I renounce, on this day and on every Sunday to come, all association of partners with You and all denial of truth.
Wa-ukhliṣu laka duʿāʾī taʿarruḍan li-l-ijābati, wa-uqīmu ʿalā ṭāʿatika rajāʾan li-l-ithābati.
I make my prayer sincere to You, seeking to receive an answer, and I remain steadfast in obedience to You, hoping for reward.
Faṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin khayri khalqika, al-dāʿī ilā ḥaqqika, wa-aʿizzanī biʿizzika al-ladhī lā yuḍāmu, wa-iḥfaẓnī biʿaynika al-latī lā tanāmu,
Bless Muhammad, the best of Your creation, who calls people to Your truth. Honor me through Your invincible might, and guard me with Your eye that never sleeps.
Wa-ikhtim bi-al-inqiṭāʿi ilayka amrī, wabi-al-maghfirati ʿumrī, innaka anta al-ghafūru al-raḥīmu.
Bring my affairs to a close in complete devotion to You, and my life to a close in forgiveness. You are the All-Forgiving, the Ever-Merciful.
Duʿāʾuhu ʿalayhi al-salāmu fī yawmi al-ithnayni
His prayer for Monday, peace be upon him
Bismi Allāhi al-raḥmāni al-raḥīmi.
In the name of God, the All-Merciful, the Ever-Merciful.
Al-ḥamdu li-llāhi al-ladhī lam yushhid aḥadan ḥīna faṭara al-samāwāti wa-al-arḍa, walā ittakhadha muʿīnan ḥīna baraʾa al-nasamāti.
Praise belongs to God, who called no one to witness when He originated the heavens and the earth, and took no helper when He created living beings.
Lam yushārak fī al-ilāhiyyati, walam yuẓāhar fī al-waḥdāniyyati.
No one shares His divinity, and no one supports Him in His oneness.
Kallati al-alsunu ʿan ghāyati ṣifatihi, wa-inḥasarati al-ʿuqūlu ʿan kunhi maʿrifatihi,
Tongues grow weary before reaching the full measure of His description, and minds fall short of grasping the essence of knowing Him.
Watawāḍaʿati al-jabābiratu lihaybatihi, waʿanati al-wujūhu likhashyatihi, wa-inqāda kullu ʿaẓīmin liʿaẓamatihi.
The mighty humble themselves before His awe; faces submit in fear of Him, and everything great yields to His greatness.
Falaka al-ḥamdu mutawātiran muttasiqan, wamutawāliyan mustawsiqan, waṣalawātuhu ʿalā rasūlihi abadan, wasalāmuhu dāʾiman sarmadan.
To You belongs praise, repeated and harmonious, continuous and unbroken. May His blessings rest upon His Messenger forever, and His peace endure without end.
Allāhumma ijʿal awwala yawmī hādhā ṣalāḥan, wa-awsaṭahu falāḥan, wa-ākhirahu najāḥan,
O God, make the beginning of this day sound, its middle prosperous, and its end successful.
Wa-aʿūdhu bika min yawmin awwaluhu fazaʿun, wa-awsaṭuhu jazaʿun, wa-ākhiruhu wajaʿun.
I seek refuge in You from a day whose beginning is terror, whose middle is anguish, and whose end is pain.
Allāhumma innī astaghfiruka likulli nadhrin nadhartuhu, walikulli waʿdin waʿadtuhu, walikulli ʿahdin ʿāhadtuhu, thumma lam afi laka bihi.
O God, I ask Your forgiveness for every vow I made, every promise I gave, and every covenant I entered, then failed to fulfill before You.
Wa-asʾaluka fī maẓālimi ʿibādika ʿindī; fa-ayyumā ʿabdin min ʿabīdika aw amatin min imāʾika kānat lahu qibalī maẓlamatun ẓalamtuhā iyyāhu,
I ask You concerning the wrongs against Your servants for which I am responsible: any male or female servant of Yours against whom I have committed an injustice,
Fī nafsihi aw fī ʿirḍihi aw fī mālihi aw fī ahlihi wawaladihi, aw ghībatun ightabtuhu bihā,
whether against their person, honor, property, family, or child, or through backbiting them;
Aw taḥāmulun ʿalayhi bimaylin aw hawan aw anafatin aw ḥamiyyatin aw riyāʾin aw ʿaṣabiyyatin, ghāʾiban kāna aw shāhidan, waḥayyan kāna aw mayyitan,
or through hostility born of partiality, desire, pride, partisan zeal, ostentation, or group prejudice—whether that person was absent or present, alive or dead.
Faqaṣurat yadī, waḍāqa wusʿī ʿan raddihā ilayhi wa-al-taḥalluli minhu;
My reach has fallen short and my means have become too limited to restore their right and obtain their release from the claim.
Fa-asʾaluka yā man yamliku al-ḥājāti, wahiya mustajībatun bimashiyyatihi wamusriʿatun ilā irādatihi,
So I ask You, O One who possesses every need, while all needs answer His will and hasten to His command:
An tuṣalliya ʿalā muḥammadin wa-āli muḥammadin, wa-an turḍiyahu ʿannī bimā shiʾta, watahaba lī min ʿindika raḥmatan.
bless Muhammad and his family, make that person pleased with me in whatever way You choose, and grant me mercy from Yourself.
Innahu lā tanquṣuka al-maghfiratu, walā taḍurruka al-mawhibatu, yā arḥama al-rāḥimīna.
Forgiveness does not diminish You, and giving does not harm You, O most merciful of the merciful.
Allāhumma awlinī fī kulli yawmi ithnayni niʿmatayni minka thintayni: saʿādatan fī awwalihi biṭāʿatika, waniʿmatan fī ākhirihi bimaghfiratika,
O God, bestow on me every Monday two blessings from You: happiness at its beginning through obedience to You, and blessing at its end through Your forgiveness,
Yā man huwa al-ilāhu, walā yaghfiru al-dhunūba siwāhu.
O You who alone are God, and beside whom no one forgives sins.
Duʿāʾuhu ʿalayhi al-salāmu fī yawmi al-thulāthāʾi
His prayer for Tuesday, peace be upon him
Bismi Allāhi al-raḥmāni al-raḥīmi.
In the name of God, the All-Merciful, the Ever-Merciful.
Al-ḥamdu li-llāhi, wa-al-ḥamdu ḥaqquhu kamā yastaḥiqquhu, ḥamdan kathīran.
Praise belongs to God; praise is His right, as He deserves, abundant praise.
Wa-aʿūdhu bihi min sharri nafsī: ﴿inna al-nafsa laʾammāratun bi-al-sūʾi illā mā raḥima rabbī﴾.
I seek refuge in Him from the evil of my own soul: “The soul indeed commands to evil, except when my Lord shows mercy.”
Wa-aʿūdhu bihi min sharri al-shayṭāni al-ladhī yazīdunī dhanban ilā dhanbī, wa-aḥtarizu bihi min kulli jabbārin fājirin, wasulṭānin jāʾirin, waʿaduwwin qāhirin.
I seek refuge in Him from the evil of Satan, who adds sin to my sin, and I shelter in Him from every wicked tyrant, unjust ruler, and overpowering enemy.
Allāhumma ijʿalnī min jundika, fa-inna jundaka humu al-ghālibūna, wa-ijʿalnī min ḥizbika, fa-inna ḥizbaka humu al-mufliḥūna,
O God, make me one of Your forces, for Your forces are the victorious. Make me one of Your party, for Your party are the successful.
Wa-ijʿalnī min awliyāʾika, fa-inna awliyāʾaka lā khawfun ʿalayhim walā hum yaḥzanūna.
Make me one of Your friends, for Your friends have no fear, nor shall they grieve.
Allāhumma aṣliḥ lī dīnī, fa-innahu ʿiṣmatu amrī, wa-aṣliḥ lī ākhiratī, fa-innahā dāru maqarrī, wa-ilayhā min mujāwarati al-liʾāmi mafarrī.
O God, set right my religion, for it safeguards all my affairs. Set right my life to come, for it is my lasting home and the refuge to which I flee from living among the ignoble.
Wa-ijʿali al-ḥayāta ziyādatan lī fī kulli khayrin, wa-al-wafāta rāḥatan lī min kulli sharrin.
Make life an increase for me in every good, and death a release for me from every evil.
Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin khātami al-nabiyyīna, watamāmi ʿiddati al-mursalīna, waʿalā ālihi al-ṭayyibīna al-ṭāhirīna, wa-aṣḥābihi al-muntajabīna.
O God, bless Muhammad, the Seal of the prophets and the completion of the number of messengers, and bless his good and pure family and his chosen companions.
Wahab lī fī al-thulāthāʾi thalāthan: lā tadaʿ lī dhanban illā ghafartahu, walā ghamman illā adhhabtahu, walā ʿaduwwan illā dafaʿtahu.
Grant me three things on Tuesday: leave me no sin without forgiving it, no sorrow without removing it, and no enemy without repelling him.
Bibismi Allāhi khayri al-asmāʾi, bismi Allāhi rabbi al-arḍi wa-al-samāʾi, astadfiʿu kulla makrūhin awwaluhu sakhaṭuhu,
Through “In the name of God,” the best of names—in the name of God, Lord of earth and heaven—I seek to repel every hateful thing whose beginning is His displeasure,
Wa-astajlibu kulla maḥbūbin awwaluhu riḍāhu, fa-ikhtim lī minka bi-al-ghufrāni, yā waliyya al-iḥsāni.
and I seek to draw near every beloved thing whose beginning is His good pleasure. Seal my day with forgiveness from You, O Guardian of all goodness.
Duʿāʾuhu ʿalayhi al-salāmu fī yawmi al-arbiʿāʾi
His prayer for Wednesday, peace be upon him
Bismi Allāhi al-raḥmāni al-raḥīmi.
In the name of God, the All-Merciful, the Ever-Merciful.
Al-ḥamdu li-llāhi al-ladhī jaʿala al-layla libāsan, wa-al-nawma subātan, wajaʿala al-nahāra nushūran.
Praise belongs to God, who made the night a covering, sleep a rest, and the day a time of rising.
Laka al-ḥamdu an baʿathtanī min marqadī, walaw shiʾta jaʿaltahu sarmadan, ḥamdan dāʾiman lā yanqaṭiʿu abadan, walā yuḥṣī lahu al-khalāʾiqu ʿadadan.
Praise belongs to You for raising me from my resting place; had You willed, You could have made it everlasting. I praise You with an enduring praise that never ends and whose number no creature can count.
Allāhumma laka al-ḥamdu an khalaqta fasawwayta, waqaddarta waqaḍayta, wa-amatta wa-aḥyayta, wa-amraḍta washafayta, waʿāfayta wa-ablayta,
O God, praise belongs to You: You created and proportioned, determined and decreed, caused death and gave life, brought illness and gave healing, granted well-being and put to trial;
Waʿalā al-ʿarshi istawayta, waʿalā al-mulki iḥtawayta.
You established Yourself over the Throne and encompassed all dominion.
Adʿūka duʿāʾa man ḍaʿufat wasīlatuhu, wa-inqaṭaʿat ḥīlatuhu, wa-iqtaraba ajaluhu, watadānā fī al-dunyā amaluhu,
I call on You with the prayer of one whose means have weakened, whose resources have failed, whose appointed end has drawn near, and whose hopes in this world have dwindled;
Wa-ishtaddat ilā raḥmatika fāqatuhu, waʿaẓumat litafrīṭihi ḥasratuhu, wakathurat zallatuhu waʿathratuhu, wakhaluṣat liwajhika tawbatuhu.
whose need for Your mercy has become severe, whose regret for his negligence has grown immense, whose slips and stumbles have multiplied, and whose repentance is sincere for Your sake.
Faṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin khātami al-nabiyyīna, waʿalā ahli baytihi al-ṭayyibīna al-ṭāhirīna,
Bless Muhammad, the Seal of the prophets, and his good and pure household.
Wa-urzuqnī shafāʿata muḥammadin ṣallā Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-ālihi, walā taḥrimnī ṣuḥbatahu, innaka anta arḥamu al-rāḥimīna.
Grant me the intercession of Muhammad, may God bless him and his family, and do not deprive me of his companionship. You are the most merciful of the merciful.
Allāhumma iqḍi lī fī al-arbiʿāʾi arbaʿan: ijʿal quwwatī fī ṭāʿatika, wanashāṭī fī ʿibādatika,
O God, fulfill four things for me on Wednesday: place my strength in obeying You and my energy in worshipping You;
Waraghbatī fī thawābika, wazuhdī fīmā yūjibu lī alīma ʿiqābika, innaka laṭīfun limā tashāʾu.
place my desire in Your reward, and make me renounce whatever brings Your painful punishment upon me. You are subtle in accomplishing whatever You will.
Duʿāʾuhu ʿalayhi al-salāmu fī yawmi al-khamīsi
His prayer for Thursday, peace be upon him
Bismi Allāhi al-raḥmāni al-raḥīmi.
In the name of God, the All-Merciful, the Ever-Merciful.
Al-ḥamdu li-llāhi al-ladhī adhhaba al-layla muẓliman biqudratihi, wajāʾa bi-al-nahāri mubṣiran biraḥmatihi, wakasānī ḍiyāʾahu, wa-ātānī niʿmatahu.
Praise belongs to God, who by His power sent away the night in darkness, brought the day in brightness through His mercy, clothed me in its light, and granted me its blessing.
Allāhumma fakamā abqaytanī lahu, fa-abqinī liʾamthālihi, waṣalli ʿalā al-nabiyyi muḥammadin wa-ālihi,
O God, as You have kept me alive to see this day, keep me alive for days like it, and bless the Prophet Muhammad and his family.
Walā tafjaʿnī fīhi wafī ghayrihi mina al-layālī wa-al-ayyāmi birtikābi al-maḥārimi wa-iktisābi al-maʾāthimi.
Do not afflict me on this day, or on any other night or day, by letting me violate what is sacred or acquire sins.
Wa-urzuqnī khayrahu, wakhayra mā fīhi, wakhayra mā baʿdahu, wa-iṣrif ʿannī sharrahu, washarra mā fīhi, washarra mā baʿdahu.
Provide me with the good of this day, the good it contains, and the good that follows it; turn away from me its evil, the evil it contains, and the evil that follows it.
Allāhumma innī bidhimmati al-islāmi atawassalu ilayka, wabiḥurmati al-qurʾāni aʿtamidu ʿalayka,
O God, I seek a means of approach to You through the covenant of Islam, and I rely on You through the sanctity of the Qurʾan.
Wabimuḥammadin al-muṣṭafā ṣallā Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-ālihi astashfiʿu ladayka, fa-iʿrifi Allāhumma dhimmatī al-latī rajawtu bihā qaḍāʾa ḥājatī, yā arḥama al-rāḥimīna.
Through Muhammad the Chosen, may God bless him and his family, I seek intercession with You. O God, acknowledge the covenant by which I hope that my need will be fulfilled, O most merciful of the merciful.
Allāhumma iqḍi lī fī al-khamīsi khamsan, lā yattasiʿu lahā illā karamuka, walā yuṭīquhā illā niʿamuka:
O God, fulfill five things for me on Thursday—things that only Your generosity can encompass and only Your blessings can bear:
Salāmatan aqwā bihā ʿalā ṭāʿatika, waʿibādatan astaḥiqqu bihā jazīla mathūbatika, wasaʿatan fī al-ḥāli mina al-rizqi al-ḥalāli,
soundness by which I gain strength to obey You; worship through which I become worthy of Your abundant reward; and ample lawful provision in my present circumstances;
Wa-an tuʾminanī fī mawāqifi al-khawfi biʾamnika, watajʿalanī min ṭawāriqi al-humūmi wa-al-ghumūmi fī ḥiṣnika.
that You grant me security through Your protection wherever fear confronts me; and that You place me within Your fortress against the sudden onset of worries and griefs.
Ṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa-ālihi, wa-ijʿal tawassulī bihi shāfiʿan yawma al-qiyāmati nāfiʿan, innaka anta arḥamu al-rāḥimīna.
Bless Muhammad and his family, and make my seeking a means through him an intercession that benefits me on the Day of Resurrection. You are the most merciful of the merciful.
Duʿāʾuhu ʿalayhi al-salāmu fī yawmi al-jumuʿati
His prayer for Friday, peace be upon him
Bismi Allāhi al-raḥmāni al-raḥīmi.
In the name of God, the All-Merciful, the Ever-Merciful.
Al-ḥamdu li-llāhi al-awwali qabla al-inshāʾi wa-al-iḥyāʾi, wa-al-ākhiri baʿda fanāʾi al-ashyāʾi,
Praise belongs to God, the First before creation and the giving of life, and the Last after all things have perished;
Al-ʿalīmi al-ladhī lā yansā man dhakarahu, walā yanquṣu man shakarahu, walā yukhayyibu man daʿāhu, walā yaqṭaʿu rajāʾa man rajāhu.
the All-Knowing, who does not forget anyone who remembers Him, diminish anyone who thanks Him, disappoint anyone who calls upon Him, or sever the hope of anyone who hopes in Him.
Allāhumma innī ushhiduka, wakafā bika shahīdan, wa-ushhidu jamīʿa malāʾikatika wasukkāna samāwātika waḥamalata ʿarshika,
O God, I call You to witness—and You suffice as witness—and I call to witness all Your angels, the inhabitants of Your heavens, and the bearers of Your Throne;
Waman baʿathta min anbiyāʾika warusulika, wa-anshaʾta min aṣnāfi khalqika, annī ashhadu annaka anta Allāhu,
and all the prophets and messengers You sent and every kind of creature You brought into being: I bear witness that You are God.
Lā ilāha illā anta, waḥdaka lā sharīka laka walā ʿadīla, walā khulfa liqawlika walā tabdīla,
There is no god but You, You alone, with no partner and no equal. Your word is never broken and never altered.
Wa-anna muḥammadan ṣallā Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-ālihi ʿabduka warasūluka; addā mā ḥammaltahu ilā al-ʿibādi, wajāhada fī Allāhi ʿazza wajalla ḥaqqa al-jihādi,
And I bear witness that Muhammad, may God bless him and his family, is Your servant and messenger. He delivered to Your servants what You charged him to convey, and strove for God, mighty and majestic, with the striving that was His due.
Wa-annahu bashshara bimā huwa ḥaqqun mina al-thawābi, wa-andhara bimā huwa ṣidqun mina al-ʿiqābi.
He gave glad tidings of the reward that is true, and warned of the punishment that is certain.
Allāhumma thabbitnī ʿalā dīnika mā aḥyaytanī, walā tuzigh qalbī baʿda idh hadaytanī, wahab lī min ladunka raḥmatan, innaka anta al-wahhābu.
O God, keep me firm in Your religion as long as You keep me alive. Do not turn my heart aside after You have guided me, and grant me mercy from Yourself. You are the Bestower.
Ṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa-āli muḥammadin, wa-ijʿalnī min atbāʿihi washīʿatihi, wa-uḥshurnī fī zumratihi,
Bless Muhammad and his family. Make me one of his followers and devoted adherents, and gather me in his company.
Wawaffiqnī liʾadāʾi farḍi al-jumuʿāti, wamā awjabta ʿalayya fīhā mina al-ṭāʿāti, waqasamta liʾahlihā mina al-ʿaṭāʾi fī yawmi al-jazāʾi,
Grant me success in fulfilling the obligation of the Friday prayers, the acts of obedience You have made incumbent upon me in them, and the gift You have allotted to their people on the Day of Recompense.
Innaka anta al-ʿazīzu al-ḥakīmu.
You are the Mighty, the Wise.
Duʿāʾuhu ʿalayhi al-salāmu fī yawmi al-sabti
His prayer for Saturday, peace be upon him
Bismi Allāhi al-raḥmāni al-raḥīmi.
In the name of God, the All-Merciful, the Ever-Merciful.
Bismi Allāhi kalimati al-muʿtaṣimīna, wamaqālati al-mutaḥarrizīna, wa-aʿūdhu bi-llāhi taʿālā min jawri al-jāʾirīna,
“In the name of God” is the word of those who seek protection and the utterance of those who guard themselves. I seek refuge in God Most High from the tyranny of the unjust,
Wakaydi al-ḥāsidīna, wabaghyi al-ẓālimīna, wa-aḥmaduhu fawqa ḥamdi al-ḥāmidīna.
from the plotting of the envious and the aggression of wrongdoers; and I praise Him beyond the praise offered by all who praise.
Allāhumma anta al-wāḥidu bilā sharīkin, wa-al-maliku bilā tamlīkin, lā tuḍāddu fī ḥukmika, walā tunāzaʿu fī mulkika.
O God, You are the One without a partner, the King without having been granted kingship. No one opposes Your judgment or contests Your dominion.
Asʾaluka an tuṣalliya ʿalā muḥammadin ʿabdika warasūlika, wa-an tūziʿanī min shukri naʿmāʾika mā tablughu bī ghāyata riḍāka,
I ask You to bless Muhammad, Your servant and messenger, and to inspire me with such gratitude for Your blessings as will bring me to the utmost limit of Your good pleasure.
Wa-an tuʿīnanī ʿalā ṭāʿatika, waluzūmi ʿibādatika, wa-istiḥqāqi mathūbatika biluṭfi ʿināyatika,
Help me, through the gentleness of Your care, to obey You, remain constant in worshipping You, and become worthy of Your reward.
Watarḥamanī wataṣuddanī ʿan maʿāṣīka mā aḥyaytanī, watuwaffiqanī limā yanfaʿunī mā abqaytanī,
Have mercy on me and turn me away from disobeying You as long as You keep me alive. Grant me success in what benefits me as long as You allow me to remain.
Wa-an tashraḥa bikitābika ṣadrī, wataḥuṭṭa bitilāwatihi wizrī, watamnaḥanī al-salāmata fī dīnī wanafsī,
Open my breast through Your Book, remove my burden through reciting it, and grant me soundness in my religion and in myself.
Walā tūḥish bī ahla unsī, watutimma iḥsānaka fīmā baqiya min ʿumurī, kamā aḥsanta fīmā maḍā minhu, yā arḥama al-rāḥimīna.
Do not make my loved ones desolate through my loss. Complete Your kindness throughout what remains of my life, just as You showed me kindness in what has passed, O most merciful of the merciful.
Text notes
Source and completeness
The base text is 08_Sahifa_Weekday_Prayers.docx. All 34 prayer-body paragraphs are preserved in source order as 86 shorter Arabic–transliteration–English groups: 13 for Sunday, 18 for Monday, 12 for Tuesday, 11 for Wednesday, 11 for Thursday, 12 for Friday and 9 for Saturday. Each day’s opening basmala is retained.
The layout and transliteration follow 04_Sahifa_Prayers_25-36_Vocalized_Transliteration_English.docx. The English is newly worded from the supplied Arabic. The source attribution to Imam ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn is preserved without adding a separate historical claim.
Readings and vocalization
Short vowels, grammatical endings, shadda, sukūn and helping vowels have been reviewed. Spacing, punctuation, hamza spelling, accusative supporting alif and conventional long-vowel spelling are regularized. These changes do not add or remove a passage.
Three evident orthographic defects in the supplied text are repaired: Tuesday’s awliyāʾika receives its missing hamza; Friday’s samāwātika receives its missing long-vowel alif; and Saturday’s naʿmāʾika receives its hamza. The source wording thintayni in the Monday prayer is retained rather than replaced by a different lexical form.
The Tuesday prayer includes the source’s quotation, “The soul indeed commands to evil, except when my Lord shows mercy.” The unusual double preposition in bi-bismi Allāhi is also retained. In Thursday’s fa-iʿrifi Allāhumma dhimmatī, “acknowledge the covenant” follows the supplied wording. Friday’s Shiʿatihi is rendered “devoted adherents” in its immediate devotional context.
The source’s statements directing the reader to Document 9 and locating edition information there are retained as source information. No material from that separate document has been inserted here.
